The Morgan Trail trailhead is immediately to the right of the candy store.
After a short climb the trail descends to a long and mostly flat stretch
through bolder strewn chaparral. The last third of the trail climbs
gently along a minor stream. An extensive oak grove covers the
stream banks, providing good shade when the weather is hot.
At 5 miles the trail reaches a paved portion of the Main Divide Truck Trail, so that by arranging a car shuttle the trail can be traversed in either direction. The round trip requires only 5½ to 6 hours with a ½ hour lunch break, so unless you are looking for an easy hike it is better to avoid the car shuttle and return the same way.
The trail intersections are marked with signs. The trail crosses
a dirt road at two points. Continue directly across the road.
