The most comprehensive reference available on hiking in Orange County is the book Afoot and Afield in Orange County, by Jerry Schad. It is available at www.rei.com.

Another web page with photos and descriptions of several Orange County hiking trails is www.wolftracks.org.

The web page at www.tchester.org gives hiking locations throughout much of Southern Calif.

If you like group hikes but don't know of a group then try one of the Sierra Club hikes. They are open to the public. The scheduled hikes for this month can be viewed in the outings section of the web pages of two of the local groups at www.angeles.sierraclub.org/ocss and www.angeles.sierraclub.org/sage. The outings section of the Angeles Chapter at www.angeles.sierraclub.org covers a wider area, but the local hikes are often not listed there. They have a K9 section if your four footed hiking partner needs a workout too.
